At the Syawal Festival LPPOM MUI 1442 H, the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) LPPOM MUI succeeded in facilitating halal certification for 644 Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) from 34 provinces in Indonesia.

The Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) sector plays a big role in Indonesia's economic condition. In addition, the halal industry is now in the spotlight both at home and abroad. If they go hand in hand, the two will have great potential to strengthen Indonesia's economic condition. Halal certification is the key to aligning the halal industry with MSEs.

We need to take advantage of this potential as optimally as possible. However, we need to realize together. This will not be realized if there is no collaboration between stakeholders. In this case, the Institute for the Study of Food, Medicines, and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI) took its role as a pioneer of the Halal Inspection Institute (LPH) in Indonesia.

It has been even a month since LPH LPPOM MUI held a UMK Care Program entitled Syawal Festival LPPOM MUI 1442 H, precisely since May 22, 2021. The Syawal Festival LPPOM MUI 1442 H attracted the enthusiasm of MSE actors from all over Indonesia. The Syawal Festival, which is the result of collaboration between LPPOM MUI Pusat and LPPOM MUI Provinces from all over Indonesia, includes facilitating technical guidance on halal certification, audit processes, and the issuance of MUI Halal Provisions.

At its closing ceremony, the Syawal Lppom MUI 1442 H Festival was held virtually and a halal webinar was also held entitled, "Increase the competitiveness of MSEs with easy and reliable halal certification. This event was also attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. DR.. (H.C.) K.H. Ma'ruf Amen; Plt. Head of BPJPH, Dr. Mastuki, M.Ag; Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Dr. H. A total of 3,166 MSE actors have registered their businesses in this program, 644 of whom have passed the facilitation of halal certification. In addition, in this program, LPH LPPOM MUI also provides technical guidance to 1,811 MSE actors.

"Alhamdulillah, the number of MSE facilitation from all provinces has exceeded the target that has been set, and is currently in the process of facilitating halal certification. Hopefully, this amount can be a trigger for our enthusiasm to continue to facilitate halal certification in the future," said Executive Director of LPPOM MUI, Ir. Muti Arintawati, M.Si.

Muti also explained that the LPPOM MUI 1442 H Syawal Festival is a form of LPH LPPOM MUI's concern for MSEs to increase competitiveness and added value of products. This is also the commitment of LPH LPPOM MUI to continue to support the government's efforts in increasing the number of production of Indonesian halal products, which are expected to compete in the global arena.

Many MSE players expect the LPPOM MUI Syawal Festival program to be held again in the coming years. This is a way for MSE actors to increase competitiveness and added value to the product. Halal certificates, for many business actors, are the key to expanding
