The number of halal cosmetic products that are pretty large provides various choices for Muslims in Indonesia. Therefore, there should be no more reason for choosing a product that is still unclear about its halalness, doubtful, or even haram.
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is not over yet. Currently, we are entering a new phase or the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic journey. The government immediately took action by implementing the Enforcement of Restriction on Community Activities (PPKM).
It is not a simple time, especially for most Indonesian people. Plans and efforts are needed to make ourselves able to face this pandemic together. One thing you can do is stay home, and this is an effort we can make to reduce the COVID-19 pandemic.
At certain times, staying at home will be monotonous. No need to buy new clothes or equipment. You can still use existing clothes and equipment, likewise with cosmetics.
There is nothing wrong you know to use cosmetics even at home. Especially for women, the cosmetic line may still be beautifully displayed on the dressing table, not significantly reduced since a year and a half ago, when this pandemic began. So, what can you do to stay beautiful even at home?
First, use daily cosmetics to keep your skin well-groomed even at home. For example, regularly use a facial moisturizer, sunscreen, and body lotion. You can also use powder and lipstick to improve your mood every day.
Second, take time to do self-care, such as using a face mask or body scrub. Such can be me time to reduce stress levels because you have to stay at home for a long time.
Third, don’t forget always to choose cosmetic products that are guaranteed to be halal. As of August 2021, data from the Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs, and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) stated 34,469 halal cosmetic products with 711 halal certificates from 286 companies spread in Indonesia.
This thing is one of them marked by the MUI halal logo on the product packaging. The number is relatively large and provides various choices for Muslims in Indonesia. Therefore, there should be no more reason for choosing a product that is still unclear about its halalness or doubtful, let alone proven haram.

“The cosmetics are used every day, so they stick to the skin and will be carried away while praying. When praying, one must be free from the unclean substance. What happens if we apply cosmetics that contain unclean substances on our skin? It means the prayer is invalid since there is unclean substance stick on the body,” explained the Executive Director of LPPOM MUI, Ir. Muti Arintawati, M.Sc.
Some people think that cosmetics can be washed or lost when rinsed by water while performing ablution (wudu’). Unfortunately, the body parts that are washed in ablution water are limited. For example, body lotion is used almost all over the body, said Muti. For sure it is not all parts that are smeared with body lotion are washed with ablution water.
