  • MUI: Industry Becomes an Important Pillar in Halal Problems

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) initiated halal certification at the end of the year 80 with the aim of Himaayatan Lil Ummah (to protect Muslims). This is because halal is part of aqidah.

Chairman of MUI for Sharia and Halal Economics, Drs. K.H Sholahuddin Al Aiyub, M.Si. conveyed this at the LPPOM MUI Halal Award 2022 awarding ceremony which was held on July 7, 2022 at the IPB International Convention Center, Bogor.

"The difficulty of halal and haram information is one of the reasons for the importance of halal certification. Finally, LPPOM MUI takes a role to gather scientists in ensuring halal certification. Even so, to meet better services, LPPOM MUI needs to cooperate with agencies such as BSN, Halal activists such as Halal Lifestyle Indonesia, and so on," he explained.

On the other hand, Kiai Aiyub emphasized that industry is an important pillar on halal issues. Industry awareness will encourage the fulfillment of halal needs. Of course this will add blessings which means Az-ziyadah fil Khairah.

"This event motivates the company's compliance with halal values, especially in the certification aspect. By applying halal principles, it will add goodness and the industry continues to grow, because it is part of the blessing," said Kiai Aiyub. (*)
