  • Having Halal Certificate, Samyang Green Outperforms Imported Instant Noodle Products

Samyang Green, a Korean noodle that has been certified as a halal product comes with four new product variants. By having Indonesian taste and obtaining halal certificate, the instant noodle which carries a Korean taste but fits the Indonesian’s, is introduced.

President Director of PT Jakarta Boga Utama Sari, who brought Samyang Green to Indonesia, Arie Kurniawan said that in fact Samyang Green had been known and entered Indonesia for a long time, the MUI Halal Decree had already been owned from the start of entering the Indonesian market. The new variants introduced at the press conference on Wednesday (10/2) were no exception, namely Samyang Hot Chicken Ramen Flavour (Jjajang), Samyang Hot Chicken Ramen Flavour (Stew), Samyang Spicy Ramen, and Samyang Buldak Sauce Original.

“Even though Samyang Green is an imported product, we emphasize that this product has been certified halal and has received a distribution license. This means that Samyang Green is already halal and safe for consumption. Because of that, people need not hesitate anymore to consume all variants of Samyang Green products, ”said Arie while showing the MUI halal logo on the Samyang packaging.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of LPPOM MUI, Ir. Muti Arintawati, M.Si said that there are two main advantages of products that have received the MUI Halal Stipulation. First, the product fulfils consumer rights.

“Since the product is marketed in Indonesia, one important thing is that the product is guaranteed to be halal as proven by the existence of the MUI Halal Decree. Thus, when there are several product choices with the same quality, Muslim consumers will prefer products with the MUI halal logo. This provides great added value to product sales, “explained Muti.

Second, the products meet regulatory requirements. In Indonesia, there are regulations in Act Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance (JPH Act). Article 4 states that products that enter, circulate and trade in the territory of Indonesia must be certified halal. If not, then it is categorized as non-halal product. For the food and beverage category, it is given 5 years, from 2019-2024.

“During this period all companies have to adjust, so that after 2024 all products must be certified halal. The remaining time is not long for a product to meet the requirements for halal certification. Samyang Green has already been certified halal, so the regulations will be safe later, “explained Muti.

On the same occasion, Pastry Chef and Food Influencer Nina Bertha, said that Samyang Green’s product is one of the imported products whose taste can be accepted by most Indonesians. Nina is optimistic that Samyang Green will reap the Indonesian market well.

Until now, the market for noodles, pasta and their processed products in Indonesia is very busy. MUI halal product data as of today (10/2) from the website www.halalmui.org, there are 93 halal certified companies for this category with 7,283 product variants. (YN)
