  • Prepare Products Before Applying for Halal Certification

Entrepreneurs who want to take care of halal certificates should prepare their products to be following the standards used by halal inspectors. Staff of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) Hartono said it had given until October 17, 2024.

“So we should not rush, but the products are not necessarily halal, it will be useless when tested by LPH, it will not pass. So while the time limit is still long, prepare it,” he told Republika on Monday (12/30).

He asserted, if the file has entered into BPJPH, it means the product is ready to be tested. So before registering, make sure the product meets halal requirements. If the product does not pass the test at LPH, BPJPH will not issue a halal certificate. Hartono added the halal product certification obligation applies to large to micro-entrepreneurs.

“Entrepreneurs and meatballs to cilok sellers, they should first prepare their products to be halal. Then, submit a certification,” he appealed.

Meanwhile, for entrepreneurs who previously had a halal certificate from the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI), he explained, could use it until the validity period ends. “The MUI halal certificate has a time limit, when it has finished operating, then take care of it again to BPJPH,” Hartono explained.

He said, now BPJPH is waiting for the establishment of halal certification rates from the Ministry of Finance (Ministry of Finance). Hartono said the tariff would vary because micro-business products would be different from those of large companies. (*)
