JAKARTA (voa-islam.com) – Decree of the Minister of Religion (KMA) Number 982 of 2019 concerning Halal Certification Services states that the Assessment Institute of Foods, Drugs, and Cosmetics of Indonesia Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) has given temporary authority to conduct halal certification.
Deputy Director of LPPOM MUI Osmena Gunawan said that institutionally LPPOM was ready to run the KMA.
“We don’t need to doubt. We have SOP, ISO standards. We have cooperated with the Middle East. We are ready, and it’s been 30 years to take care of halal certification. We relax about it,” said Osmena when met after the Indonesian Indonesia’s End of Year Reflections Halal Watch event in East Jakarta, Monday (12/23/2019).
Nevertheless, LPPOM is still waiting for a decision from the MUI management regarding the implementation of this KMA.
“Now we are also waiting for a decision from the MUI. Don’t let the LPPOM MUI make the wrong move, and the consequences are the law. The law is a state product. Hopefully, this week the MUI has acted to carry out this task,” explained Osmena.
Osmena revealed, based on the KMA, that the registration of halal certification is done online through Cerol SS23000, which is an LPPOM product. About the halal certification tariff, the amount is following what has been determined by LPPOM MUI so far.
“Costs according to KMA are submitted to LPPOM. Because there really is no regulation from the government. So what has happened now in LPPOM, in KMA, is explained,” said Osmena. * [Syaf / voa-islam.com]
