The Assessment Institute of Foods, Drugs, and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) together with GAPMMI and the Seafast Center, were representatives of institutions from Indonesia who were invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Food Ingredient Asia (FIA) Expo. The event was held on 5-7 October 2022, at Queen Circuit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok Thailand. 

The Networking and Product Development Manager of LPPOM MUI, Cucu Rina Purwaningrum, said that LPPOM MUI continuously to support ingredient producers to comply with Indonesian government regulations regarding the Halal Product Assurance. 

“Two years earlier, because it was still in the pandemic period, the FIA expo was held online. Alhamdulillah, this year LPPOM MUI can attend offline at the FIA expo. Our presence aims to make it easier for domestic and overseas business actors to access information related to regulations and requirements for halal certification,” she explained. 

In a series of FIA events, LPPOM MUI in collaboration with Informa Market as the event organizer held a seminar themed “Halal Ingredients Certification Update”. Present as a speaker at the International Halal Partner of LPPOM MUI, Ratna Mustika, and the Founding Director of the Halal Science Centre Chulalongkorn University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan. This seminar attracted the attention of various business actors and stakeholders. One of them is the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand. 

“Business actors who want to process halal certification in Indonesia, don’t worry, LPPOM MUI has programs that make it easier and faster to process halal certification. The system implemented by LPPOM MUI is also believed to be more practical by many business actors,” explained Ratna while explaining the latest requirements and procedures related to halal certification in Indonesia. 

 In another session of this seminar, Prof. Winai Dahlan discussed the development of Halal Science in determining the halalness of food and medicine, so far, digital technology has been developed. 

In addition to the seminar, LPPOM MUI also participated in Food Ingredients Asia (FIA) expo along with several producers from Indonesia in the Indonesia Pavilion area. Generally, visitors who attend the LPPOM MUI booth are business people from various countries. Embassies from various countries, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, as well as associations of entrepreneurs also visited the booth and discussed with the LPPOM MUI team.
