During the pandemic, MSMEs are the most affected. Getting out of the manufactured economic situation does require cooperation efforts. The Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, conveyed this at the closing ceremony of the 1443 H Syawal Festival which was held virtually on June 9th, 2022.
In his speech, Teten Masduki quoted the Indonesia Halal Lifestyle Center, which stated that Indonesia is a big consumer of the halal product market. The total expenditure of the Indonesian population for halal products and services in all sectors, as well as the prediction of economic growth until 2025, amounted to 218.8 billion US dollars or grew 5.3 percent.
“The potential economic impact of the halal industry on GDP is 3.8 billion US dollars. To take advantage of this potential, of course, it must be supported by the supply of halal goods,” explained Teten Masduki.
For this reason, the effort to facilitate the free halal certificate given at the 2022 Syawal Festival organized by LPPOM MUI is one way to increase the supply of halal products. This is also in line with the government’s efforts to provide a good business ecosystem, as stated in the Presidential Decree on National Entrepreneurship Development. (***)
