Following up on the positive response from the community and Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), the Institute for the Study of Food, Medicines, and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI) again held the Syawal Festival Phase 2 which was held on May 12 – June 1, 2022, simultaneously in the month of Syawal in all provinces throughout Indonesia.

President Director of LPPOM MUI, Muti Arintawati explained, the LPPOM MUI Syawal Festival is an annual activity as a form of LPPOM MUI's concern for MSEs to increase competitiveness and added value of products. "This activity is a form of LPPOM MUI's commitment to continue to support the government's efforts in increasing the number of Indonesian halal products that can compete in the global market," said Muti.

Various programs in the LPPOM MUI Syawal Festival, including Technical Guidance on halal certification for MSEs—as a form of LPPOM MUI's support to share technical knowledge of halal product guarantees and the minimum requirements that must be met by MSE business actors to be guaranteed halal and get a halal certificate. Technical guidance for MSE actors is carried out online and offline. Meanwhile, the schedule and sessions are grouped by province and business group.

Another program is the Training of Trainers (ToT) for Halal Da'wah Cadres. This activity was held with the intention of providing provisions to proselytizing cadres when providing halal education to Muslim consumers in order to grow halal awareness when consuming products—food, medicine, cosmetics, and other product groups. Target participants: individuals/ individuals, influencers or communities who care about halal. In addition to the new participants, the Halal Da'wah Cadre ToT also provides a refresher for participants who have participated in the Halal Da'wah Cadre ToT in previous years.

In addition, LPPOM MUI also facilitates free halal certification to selected MSEs in each province with certain criteria. One of the required criteria, the MSE is a regional superior product that is in great demand by the public. (FM/HU)
