Halal certification is now a form of compliance of business actors or companies with the applicable Halal Product Guarantee regulations. In addition, the existence of a halal certificate can provide added value to the product. This is because every company that has been certified halal is required to implement the Halal Assurance System (SJH) or what is currently known as the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH).

According to the President Director of the Institute for the Study of Food, Medicines, and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI), Ir. Muti Arintawati, M.Si, before registering for halal certification, companies must have implemented SJH in accordance with government regulations and HAS 23000.

"For the implementation of appropriate SJH, companies need to first understand the SJH criteria required in HAS 23000, which is prepared on a thematic basis in accordance with the company's business processes," said Muti.

HAS 23000 is a halal certification requirement set by LPPOM MUI for halal certification of a product. These requirements contain the criteria of the Halal Assurance System (SJH) and other requirements, such as halal certification policies and procedures. There are 11 SJH criteria covered in HAS 23000. All of these criteria must be met by companies that want to obtain halal certificates for their products.
