  • Assist Halal Certification Access for Foreign Cosmetics, LPPOM MUI Attends Cosmobeauty Seoul 2023

Seoul (25/5). Hallyu, the Korean wave influenced by K-Pop and Korean melodrama, hit the world’s population, especially Gen Z and millennials. In addition, the effect also hits cosmetics. Fair skin like hangul saram is the dream of today’s youth, and the cosmetics of South Korea are hunted.

This trend and the proliferation of Korean products in Indonesia are of particular concern. Especially in 2026, all cosmetics will be subject to the obligation of halal certification.

“It takes three years (from 2023 to 2026) to start implementing a halal system, not a long time, so cosmetic companies must start preparing. Don’t let cosmetics that enter Indonesia be rejected, banned from distribution, or even labeled as haram,” said Muti Arintawati.

In supporting cosmetic manufacturers’ access to halal certification, LPPOM MUI attended the COSMOBEAUTY SEOUL 2023 exhibition some time ago. Collaborating with Ini Halal Korea as the representative office of LPPOM MUI in Korea, Indonesia’s first and largest halal inspection agency is at booth A18, COEX Hall A. This exhibition also presents raw material products, packaging, hair care, aesthetics, nails, supplements, and organic and vegetarian food.

On this occasion, the President Director of LPPOM MUI will give a seminar on “Critical points of cosmetics and how cosmetic halal certification can increase product value.” This is important so the cosmetic industry knows the halal requirements and can fulfill them before entering the Indonesian market.

The halal cosmetics market, according to www.GlobalMuslimPopulation.com, occupies a high position, reaching around two billion people, while Indonesia itself, 229,000,000 or 87% of the total population, needs the national cosmetics market. Until now, LPPOM MUI has more than 50,000 clients in more than 65 countries. The number of cosmetic applicants continues to increase from year to year. LPPOM MUI routinely provides a forum for industries interested in halal certification through an introductory class on halal certification held bilingually every month on Tuesday (NAD).
