LPPOM MUI Hadiri Launching Program 1000 Sertifikasi Halal Gratis oleh BSI

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) encourages the improvement of the halal ecosystem by strengthening the potential of MSMEs with the 1000 Free Halal Certification program for 1,000 MSMEs, 25 of which are through LPH LPPOM MUI.

To support access for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain halal certification, the President Director of LPPOM MUI, Muti Arintawati, was present at the Launching of the 1000 Free Halal Certification Program for MSMEs by PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk. (BSI). This event was held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at The Tower Building, Jakarta.

As is well known, the government has enacted Act No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance (UU JPH). By the mandate of Act No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance, the obligation to have halal certification for products entering, circulating, and trading in Indonesia’s territory will begin on October 17, 2024.

The President Director of LPPOM MUI, Muti Arintawati, explained that to support the regulation and encourage the success of the 1000 Free Halal Certification Program for MSMEs by BSI, LPH LPPOM MUI strengthens the LPPOM MUI representative offices in 34 provinces in Indonesia. This is to facilitate checking the halalness of products, including audits for business actors and MSMEs in each region. In addition, LPPOM MUI is supported by a halal laboratory so that business actors can directly conduct tests to support data needs.

“A halal certificate is not just a piece of paper to fulfill regulations, but rather a form of responsibility of business actors towards guaranteeing the halalness of their products. For MSMEs themselves, LPPOM MUI has a flagship program, the Syawal Festival. The purpose of this program is free halal certification/facilitation for MSMEs in all provinces in Indonesia. In addition, there is technical guidance or webinars for the general public. This year is entering its 4th year, we focus on halal tourism destinations,” explained Muti.

Director of Sales & Distribution of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, Anton Sukarna, emphasized that regarding the obligation of halal certification, BSI is encouraging the acceleration of halal certification and facilitating 1000 free halal certificates for MSMEs. This is an effort to promote existing regulations to ensure halal industry players in Indonesia can accept this halal certificate.

On the same occasion, the Head of BPJPH of the Ministry of Religion, Muhammad Aqil Irham, emphasized that the potential Muslim population in the world, which is projected to reach three billion people in 2060, can be an opportunity for producers to provide halal products both for domestic needs and export abroad. Therefore, his party appreciates BSI’s efforts to encourage Indonesia to become the center of the world’s halal industry.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to BSI, which every year participates in strengthening, strengthening, and expanding the halal ecosystem in Indonesia while providing financing facilities to its fostered MSMEs. Hopefully this will continue to increase in the coming year,” said Aqil.

In the series of events, there was a symbolic handover of three halal certificates from 25 MSMEs facilitated by BSI through the regular route through LPH LPPOM MUI. LPPOM MUI is ready to help and support meeting the government’s target of accelerating halal certification. Even so, LPPOM MUI helps meet the target not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of the quality of halal certification. LPPOM MUI itself continues to appeal to business actors, including MSME actors, who have not taken care of halal certification to take care of it immediately.
