Together with Maybank, Halal Inspection Body (LPH) LPPOM DKI Jakarta provides technical guidance on the BPJPH halal certification process to 500 MSME actors. This is a form of support from the two institutions in increasing the added value of products through fast, easy, and affordable halal certification.
To support the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in DKI Jakarta, Bank Maybank Indonesia, in collaboration with the Halal Inspection Body (LPH) LPPOM DKI Jakarta, held technical guidance (Bimtek) on managing BPJPH halal certificates easily, quickly, and affordably. This activity took place on January 9, 2025, in the Theater Room, Social and Cultural Building, Jakarta Islamic Centre, and was attended by 170 participants from a total of 500 business actors who will be certified.
This program focuses on helping MSMEs, especially those fostered by LPH LPPOM DKI Jakarta and the Muhammadiyah MSME Development Institute (LP) DKI Jakarta, fulfil the mandate of Government Regulation (PP) No. 42 of 2024. The regulation requires all products circulating in Indonesia to have a BPJPH halal certificate.
The Director of LPH LPPOM DKI Jakarta, drg. Deden Edi Sutrisna, conveyed the importance of this activity for MSME actors. “The technical guidance and provision of BPJPH halal certificates today is Maybank’s support in supporting halal certification. LPPOM is committed to providing its best service until your business obtains a halal certificate (quickly, easily and affordably),” he said.
Deden emphasized that halal certification is a matter of compliance with regulations and a strategic step to expand the market. “Businesses must follow halal regulations to develop and enter markets throughout Indonesia,” he added.
He also reminded MSME actors to pay attention to four important things: business permits, distribution permits, Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI), and halal certificates. According to him, BPJPH halal certification is a form of compliance with Act No. 33 of 2014.
“Hopefully this technical guidance will provide a clear understanding of the halal certification process and motivate business actors to continue to grow and develop,” he hoped. Deden invited all parties to pray that LPPOM consistently builds a strong halal ecosystem.
In the same event, Shariah Branch Sales and Office Channeling Maybank Barkah Santosa emphasized Maybank’s active role in supporting MSMEs. “Our motivation is to play an active role in fostering MSMEs. We realize that banks are very much needed by MSME actors, not only to support the corporate side, but also micro business actors,” he explained.
According to Barkah, Maybank has been entrusted with distributing customer assistance through alms and zakat. This assistance is realized by facilitating BPJPH halal certification for MSMEs. “This activity is an implementation of this mandate. We want to ensure that MSMEs have easy access to obtain halal certificates,” he added.
Barkah also revealed that similar activities have been carried out in three major cities: Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya. In Jakarta, this program was carried out with LPPOM DKI Jakarta and LP UMKM Muhammadiyah, while in Yogyakarta and Surabaya, Maybank collaborated with the local LP UMKM.
Halal certification is one of the important requirements for MSMEs to compete in the local and international markets. With the support of LPPOM DKI Jakarta and Maybank, business actors get technical guidance and easier access to halal certificates. This aligns with creating an inclusive and highly competitive halal ecosystem.
This program is real evidence that cross-sector collaboration, such as between halal and financial institutions, can benefit MSME actors greatly. In the future, it is hoped that more business actors will get convenience in the halal certification process to increase the competitiveness of their products in the global market.
This activity was also attended by various parties, such as the General Treasurer of MUI DKI Jakarta, Abi Ichwanudin, Arya Jaya, and Soleha from LP UMKM Muhammadiyah, as well as the Director of LPPOM DKI Jakarta, drg. Deden Edi Sutrisna. The collaboration between Maybank, LPPOM, and the UMKM community is expected to accelerate and simplify the BPJPH halal certification process while strengthening the halal ecosystem in Indonesia.
