PT EMOS is a digital global (EMOS) that targets halal certification for 40,000 pharmacies that will be incorporated into the EMOS network. This is done to fulfill the government’s regulation of must-halal certification, which has been launched since 2019.
To fulfill this target, EMOS is committed to a successful partnership with LPPOM LPH. The cooperating signing was done by the President Director of PT EMOS, Tjan Gito, and the President Director of LPPOM, Muti Arintawati, at the 8th EMOS marketplace app anniversary event on August 8th, 2024, at Enseval TV—PT Enseval Putera Megatrading, Jakarta. Muhammad Khairuman and Marketing & NetworkingLPPOM, Andriawan Subekti, also accompanied the QARA EMOS signing procession.
“We appreciate the halal certification step for pharmacy that EMOS has taken. Sooner or later, all pharmacies circulated in Indonesia must have a halal certification. This is because pharmacies are included in the services category and retail that sells medicines and medical devices,” said Muti.
As we all know, the government set the Halal Product Assurance Regulation (JPH) in 2014 and has increasingly made changes that have lowered some regulations. The newest one is in Constitution Number 6, Year 2023. The government said that all services and products that circulate in Indonesia must be halal certified.
In this case, pharmacies are included in the retail services category, so the scope of halal certification lies in how pharmacies ensure that the goods delivered to consumers remain halal, for example, by separating equipment for dispensing medicine that has been certified halal from that which has not been certified halal. Apart from that, there needs to be separate displays and clear markings for products with claims to contain pigs.
Besides that, specifically regulation related to medicines conveyed in the Government Constitution Number 6 Year 2023 about medicines, biological products, and medical devices halal certification. Article 2 of the regulation states that Medicines, Biological Products, and Medical Devices that are entered, circulated, and marketed in Indonesia must have a halal certification.
The government enforces the phasing period to make it easier for businesspeople to fulfill the regulation. Traditional medicine (Jamu) and supplements entered a must-halal certification transition period by 2026. In the meantime, types of over-the-counter and limited over-the-counter medicines to 2029, and hard drugs, except for psychotropics, it is in 2034. Halal certification for pharmacies is in line with the phasing period for medicines, which must be halal-certified by 2034.
LPPOM continues to encourage the government’s efforts to realize halal for every product category. This is done in every way, starting with education for businesspeople and various programs to make it easy for businesspeople to do the halal certification fast and easy, including providing a free halal certification facility.
To make it easier for consumers and businesspeople look for halal product references easy, quickly, and accessible, LPPOM provides a Search Halal Product that can be accessed through www.halalmui.org website and the Halal MUI app that can downloaded through the Playstore and the BPJPH website.
