Bandung – 2019 is the second year of SMAN 5 Bandung, West Java, for sending students as Halal Olympic champions. The motivation of students to take part in this international event has also increased from year to year. In line with that, the school began to take care of halal canteen certification at SMAN 5 Bandung.
Previously, at the 2017 Halal Olympics, one of the students of SMAN 5 Bandung, Aindrea Ryhan Supriyanto, won the 3rd Place Champion. Now, the row of school achievements has increased. Rakean Radya Al Barra won 3rd place. He defeated 19,697 other students from all over Indonesia and five countries.

The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) handed over the 2019 Halal Olympics prize to Rakean Radya Al Barra on March 9, 2020 at SMAN 5 Bandung, West Java. For their achievements, LPPOM MUI gave prizes in the form of notebooks and educational savings worth Rp. 6,000,000.
Ir. Osmena Gunawan, Communication Director of LPPOM MUI, said that basically the Halal Olympics were held as a forum for halal socialization to Millennials. Hopefully, with the Halal Olympics, students will be motivated to continue studying halal-haram.
“With the Halal Olympics, students will be motivated. The target of introducing halal to Millennials was achieved. Therefore, in this competition, there are very wide opportunities for all students, “he explained.
Osmena also stressed the importance of consuming halal food and thayyib. This is a major step in maintaining health.
Meanwhile, Drs. H. Suparman, M.M.Pd., Principal of SMAN 5 Bandung, expressed his pride at the achievements of one of the students. He said there were 124 students participating in the 2019 Halal Olympics, five of which passed the 100 finalist selection stage.
“We are very excited and support the 2019 Halal Olympics. This is a positive activity. Hopefully the next Halal Olympics will be even more-lively. Students in Bandung, in particular, and throughout Indonesia in general can take part in this event, “said Suparman.
According to him, this is a good step in socializing halal to students throughout Indonesia. Moreover, eating clean and halal food has been ordered by Islam. In the future, SMAN 5 Bandung also plans to make its school canteen a halal canteen, so that it can become a model of the city of Bandung’s halal canteen.
