Parcels are gifts often given during special moments such as Lebaran or Eid al-Fitr. It is a symbol of togetherness and an expression of gratitude. However, have we ensured that the parcels we choose are truly halal?
Eid al-Fitr, also commonly known as Lebaran, is a special moment awaited by Muslims worldwide. After a month of fasting, Eid al-Fitr is a time full of happiness and sharing.
One of the typical traditions in Indonesia is giving parcels. Eid parcels have aesthetic value in their presentation and reflect affection and attention to those closest to them. In Islam, the concept of giving gifts to each other is encouraged because it can strengthen relationships and foster affection between each other.
Many hadiths recommend giving gifts to relatives, including: “Give gifts to each other, surely you will love each other.” (HR. Bukhari in Al-Adabul Mufrad, no. 594, and Ahmad, no. 19021, authenticated by Al-Albani).
As Muslims, choosing a halal parcel is not only an obligation but also a form of concern for the recipient. Therefore, the halal aspect must be a primary concern.
The Halal Auditor Management Manager of LPPOM, Ade Suherman, S.Si, explained that halal products come from halal ingredients and must be treated and stored according to halal principles.
“Make sure the products in the parcel are not contaminated with haram and najis objects by knowing the process of making, packaging, and storing the product, both the contents of the parcel and after it becomes a parcel,” said Ade.
In addition, the thayyib aspect must also be considered. This includes the safety and cleanliness factors of the products in the parcel. One thing that is often overlooked is the product’s expiration date in the parcel. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the products in the parcel are still fit for consumption and do not endanger the recipient’s health.
To avoid making a mistake when choosing Eid parcels, here are some tips provided by Ade Suherman.
1. Make sure the contents of the parcel have a BPJPH halal certificate
Choose a parcel that contains products that already have a halal certificate. That way, we can ensure that all the parcel’s contents have met halal standards.
2. Pay attention to the quality and expiration date of the product
Ensure the parcel’s products are still in good condition and have a long enough validity period. Don’t hesitate to ask or check the product’s expiration date directly before buying.
3. Adjust the type of parcel to the recipient’s needs
There are various types of parcels to choose from, such as food and beverage parcels, beauty parcels, or household equipment parcels. Choose according to the recipient’s taste and needs to make the gift more useful.
4. Check the information on the product label
In addition to halal, it is essential to check whether any ingredients can cause allergies or endanger the recipient’s health. The label on the product can provide important information about the ingredients’ composition.
5. Choose a trusted seller
Buying parcels from retail stores known for their credibility in providing halal products is wise. Avoid buying parcels from sources whose product origins are unclear.
Choosing a halal parcel is not only about what we give but also how we give something truly valuable, both in the eyes of humans and Allah. So, ensure the parcel you choose is truly halal, safe, and meaningful for the recipient. Happy choosing a parcel and happy sharing happiness with blessings on Eid al-Fitr! (ZUL)
