The Halal Inspection Body (LPH) of the Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) has an essential and vital function of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) in carrying out the mandate to ensure that something consumed by Muslims is halal. This was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (Ketum MUI), K.H. Anwar Iskandar, at the Tasyakur Milad LPPOM MUI 35th event, which took place on January 13, 2024, at the Pajajaran GOR, Bogor.
In carrying out the command of Allah SWT, of course, halal food is also mandatory, as stated in the Qur’an. Allah says, “O humanity! Eat from what is lawful and good on the earth and do not follow Satan’s footsteps. He is truly your sworn enemy.” (QS. Al-Baqarah / 2: 168).
When what is eaten is halal, then the prayers that are said, God willing, will be answered by Allah SWT. because consuming haram food can cause prayers that are not answered and obstructed. Halal certification can also be a form of protection for people because there is no longer any doubt that people will consume food and drinks.
“Therefore, LPPOM MUI carries out its mandate as the right hand of MUI to the people as a form of service to the people, happy birthday to LPPOM MUI, happy working, happy serving the people and happy serving the country, nation and nation, this is certainly a daily worship, hopefully it will be a good deed for LPPOM MUI”, said Kiai Anwar.
In carrying out its mandate for 35 years, LPPOM MUI has become a professional and trusted LPH because it has advantages, such as being accredited with SNI ISO/IEC 17065:2012 from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) and UAE.S 2055-2.2026 from The Ministry of Industry and Advanced UAE.
LPPOM MUI also has a laboratory that has been accredited with SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), has 38 Representative Offices spread across 34 Provinces in Indonesia, and four abroad (China, Korea, and Taiwan). LPPOM MUI also has an online halal service, CEROL-SS23000, supported by more than 1,000 professional and competent auditors from 38 representative offices.
In addition to the above, LPPOM MUI has inspected more than 65 countries. And has partnered with more than 20,000 companies in Indonesia that will expand their markets abroad.
