The Syawal Festival, organized by LPPOM, is very good at optimizing Indonesia’s potential as the world’s halal producer centre. Now, halal products have become a world demand, so their standards and quality must be met through halal certification. This was conveyed by the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, at the peak of the LPPOM 1445 H Syawal Festival held on May 8, 2024 at Plataran Komodo, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
“Through the implementation of halal certification, MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) products are expected to be more guaranteed and of course will have added value to expand the distribution network to the world market,” explained Teten.
The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs has an agenda to transform informal businesses into formal ones for MSMEs through strategic programs such as having legal business permits and halal certification. He also explained that socialization, registration and assistance for halal certification for MSMEs must continue to be carried out. One of them is that this year, we are developing halal certification facilities for Slaughterhouses (RPH) together with LPPOM.
“I appreciate the holding of the LPPOM 1445 H Syawal Festival as the peak of the MSME halal certification facilitation activities throughout Indonesia in order to accelerate the achievement of the Mandatory Halal October target (WHO) 2024. I also hope that this event can become a joint momentum to support MSMEs, encourage local economic growth and be able to make Indonesian products competitive in the world’s halal industry,” said Teten.
