The Halal Inspection Body (LPH) of LPPOM has achieved international recognition by winning the GIFA Championship Award 2025 in the Halal Certification category. This prestigious award was announced at the 15th Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) held on September 11, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The award was accepted by Raafqi Ranasasmita, Corporate Secretary of LPPOM, in a ceremony attended by world figures, including the Prime Minister of Malaysia, His Excellency Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who received the GIFA Laureate 2025 title.
The GIFA event, initiated by Edbiz Corporation since 2011, is recognized as one of the most prestigious award events in the world, particularly in the fields of banking, finance, and the global halal ecosystem. “This event recognizes excellence, leadership, and progress in the ever-evolving world of Islamic finance,” explained GIFA Chairman Dr. Humayon Dar.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that this award is granted to those who have shown dedication. “We hope the recipients will be an inspiration to continue instilling integrity, sincerity, and a spirit of service to the community,” he said.
Global Recognition for LPPOM
For LPPOM, this award is deeply meaningful because it confirms its role in strengthening the global halal ecosystem. Upon receiving the award, LPPOM’s Manager of Corporate Secretary, Raafqi Ranasasmita, expressed his gratitude and pride for this international recognition.
This award represents international recognition of LPPOM’s consistency in maintaining the credibility and quality of halal certification, both in Indonesia and globally. We are grateful and honored to be part of the growing global halal ecosystem. This prestigious award has also previously been granted to Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo and Vice President K.H. Ma’aruf Amin, alongside other prominent state leaders, businesspeople, and institutions.
“This achievement also motivates us to continue providing fast, easy, reliable halal certification solutions that meet the needs of the public and businesses. We also express our gratitude to the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI), BPJPH (Halal Product Assurance Agency), our clients, and the Indonesian people for their support,” said Raafqi.
He emphasized that this success is not solely the result of LPPOM’s work, but rather the collaboration of various parties supporting the creation of a comprehensive halal assurance system in Indonesia. “We believe that strengthening the halal ecosystem is a joint effort. LPPOM will remain committed to supporting businesses in providing quality-assured halal products, so that Muslim consumers worldwide can feel secure and protected,” Raafqi added.
Strengthening Indonesia’s Role on the Global Halal Stage
The GIFA award also demonstrates that Indonesia is not only a major global consumer of halal products but also a significant contributor to establishing standards and best practices in halal certification.
In closing, Raafqi expressed his hope that this award would inspire renewed enthusiasm among all levels of LPPOM. “We will continue to innovate, expand collaborations, and strengthen our role in supporting the global halal industry. Ultimately, our goal is to provide a sense of security and trust for Muslim consumers, while also providing added value for businesses,” he said.
Since its inception, GIFA has been known as an awards event that assesses not only technical achievements but also emphasizes social responsibility, Sharia-compliant authenticity, and contributions to financial sustainability and the halal industry. Each year, the awards receive nominations from various countries and sectors, including politicians, academics, financial institutions, and halal industry service providers.
This year, the GIFA event is not only an awards ceremony but also includes the Global Islamic Finance Summit (GIFS), which brings together world leaders, senior ministers, central bank governors, and global halal industry figures. LPPOM’s presence at this forum affirms its position as part of a strategic network that strengthens Indonesia’s role in the international halal industry.
The GIFA assessment process is conducted using a rigorous methodology, assessing nominations based on submitted data and the results of the Research Team’s study. Four main criteria determine the winners: innovation that positively impacts Islamic finance, service quality and performance, national and international reach, and standards of excellence that drive the growth of the global halal industry. With this comprehensive selection process, the GIFA awards truly represent recognition of outstanding achievements at the global level. (***)
