LPPOM Raih "Best NGO Initiative" di Indonesia Corporate Sustainability Award 2024

LPPOM wins the Best NGO Initiative award at the 2024 ICSAward for the Syawal Festival program. This program is a form of LPPOM’s commitment to support the government in increasing the production of Indonesian halal products targeting MSMEs.

The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics (LPPOM) has again made a brilliant achievement by winning the “Best NGO Initiative” award at the prestigious Indonesia Corporate Sustainability Award (ICSA) 2024 for the Syawal Festival program. This award was presented at the peak event on November 21, 2024, at The Stones, Legian Bali.

The annual ICSA 2024 event, which carries the theme “Advancing Resilience through Sustainable Innovation”, is a form of appreciation for companies and organizations committed to implementing sustainability principles in their operations.

The selection process for this award involves a rigorous evaluation of the participants’ submitted initiative documents, followed by a pitching session in front of an independent panel of judges.

A jury of sustainability experts, academics, and representatives of non-governmental organizations assessed 315 submitted initiatives, including those of non-governmental organizations such as LPPOM. From this process, 55 best winners were selected, representing 11 categories.

“The number of initiatives submitted is clear evidence that companies in Indonesia continue to grow and are committed to integrating sustainability principles into their business strategies. Hopefully, this award will not only be an appreciation event, but will also be able to motivate more industry players to innovate and create a wider positive impact,” explained Olahkarsa Co-Founder and CEO, Unggul Ananta.

The award won by LPPOM also received appreciation from various parties, including Katharine Grace, Chairperson of the Indonesian Corporate Secretary Association (ICSA). “LPPOM has shown extraordinary commitment in integrating the concept of sustainability into its governance. As a member of ICSA, this award proves that LPPOM’s corporate secretary has a strategic role in formulating and implementing innovative and positive impact policies,” she said.

The Best NGO Initiative award received by LPPOM reflects its commitment to implementing sustainable governance, program innovation, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Through its flagship Syawal Festival program, LPPOM can encourage increased competitiveness and added value for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs). This is a form of LPPOM’s commitment to support the government in increasing the production of Indonesian halal products.

LPPOM’s Cooperative Secretary Manager, Raafqi Ranasasmita, expressed her pride in this recognition. “This award is the result of the hard work of the entire LPPOM team who continue to commit to the principle of sustainability. We believe that sustainability is not only about protecting the environment, but also providing long-term benefits for society and future generations. This award is a motivation for us to continue to innovate,” she said.

This year, with the theme “Improving the Local Community Economy through Halal Tourism”, LPPOM provides free regular halal certification facilities to 744 MSMEs. LPPOM independently facilitated a total of 85 MSMEs in 5 Super Priority Destinations (DSP), namely 41 MSMEs in Labuan Bajo, 10 MSMEs in the Lake Toba area, 8 MSMEs in the Borobudur area, 6 MSMEs in the Likupang area, and 20 MSMEs in the Mandalika area. A total of 40 others are spread across various provinces in Indonesia. In the same series, LPPOM also conducted halal education through webinars and seminars for 477 participants. LPPOM also initiated the formation of the Halal, Safe and Healthy Culinary Zone (KHAS) in the culinary area of Kampung Ujung, Labuan Bajo, which was inaugurated by the National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance (KNEKS).

Through this award, LPPOM strengthens its position as a trusted institution that is not only a pioneer in halal certification but also supports the sustainability agenda in Indonesia. This success will inspire other organizations to innovate and contribute to sustainable development.

LPPOM is also committed to continuing sustainability initiatives that focus on empowering halal MSMEs in the regions, developing environmentally friendly products, and improving efficient organizational governance. With the Best NGO Initiative award, LPPOM shows that sustainability principles are relevant to the business sector and non-governmental organizations that want to impact Indonesia and the world positively.
