MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 will serve as a strategic momentum for Indonesia to expand its market reach and strengthen its position in the global halal industry. In this event, The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama, as a Halal Inspection Body (LPH), is present to support the enhancement of competitiveness and credibility of Indonesia’s halal products on the international stage.
Efforts to strengthen connectivity within the regional halal industry ecosystem continue to progress. COMASIA LIMITED, together with SHAPERS—the founder and developer of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) organized a special seminar for MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 on February 11, 2026, in Jakarta. This strategic event was designed to introduce the international halal exhibition to Indonesia’s halal industry ecosystem while encouraging national business actors to participate as exhibitors and expand their access to global markets.
The seminar marked an important momentum for Indonesia as one of the major players in the global halal industry. From the perspective of The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama, participation in this forum is not merely ceremonial, but part of an ongoing commitment to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products in the international arena.
MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 will be held for the second time on July 15–17, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), a prestigious convention center located in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. The strategic location adds significant value, considering that Bangkok has long been recognized as one of the major trade and tourism hubs in Southeast Asia.
According to an official press release from Comasia Limited, a representative of the company emphasized in his remarks that MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 is designed to optimize Thailand’s competitive advantages, ranging from logistics and tourism infrastructure to its growing halal product base. “MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 is designed to optimize Thailand’s competitive advantages—from logistics and tourism infrastructure to its expanding halal product base—transforming them into sustainable export growth and increased investment opportunities for MSMEs,” he stated.
Data presented during the event highlighted Thailand’s readiness as the host country. Currently, Thailand has more than 160,000 halal-certified products, over 3,500 halal restaurants, 27 daily direct flights from the Middle East, and more than 300 Muslim-friendly premium hotels. This infrastructure positions Bangkok as one of the strategic gateways to a global market of two billion Muslim consumers.
The Director of Comasia Limited, Mr. Peter Cheung, expressed optimism regarding Indonesia’s participation. “MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 will become a strategic bridge for Indonesian products to penetrate cross-border markets and enter the Asian Muslim market, which consists of 1.17 billion people. We project more than 400 exhibitors and 15,000 international visitors at the upcoming event,” he explained.
Support also came from SHAPERS. Dato’ Mohd Shukri Abdullah, Founder of MIHAS and Lead Strategist for SHAPERS’ engagement, emphasized that Thailand possesses the combination of resources, infrastructure, and institutional support needed to become the “Halal Kitchen of the World.” According to him, cross-border collaboration will accelerate standardization, commercial connectivity, and export readiness for thousands of MSMEs.
For The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama, this forum opens a strategic space to strengthen Indonesia’s role within the regional and global halal ecosystem. As a Halal Inspection Body (LPH) with extensive experience in assisting business actors across various sectors, the institute views participation in MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 as part of Indonesia’s halal industry diplomacy.
Raafqi Ranasasmita, M.Biomed., Vice President Corporate Secretary of The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama, expressed full support for the event. “We see MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 as a strategic opportunity to expand the exposure of Indonesian halal products in international markets. We fully support the participation of national halal industry players in this event as part of strengthening the global halal ecosystem. Indonesia’s presence is not only as a participant but also as a strategic partner that brings established halal standards, quality, and credibility,” he said.
According to Raafqi, the halal industry today is no longer solely about certification, but also about competitiveness, market trust, and sustainability. Therefore, cross-country collaborations such as MEGA HALAL Bangkok provide an important platform to bring together regulators, certification bodies, business actors, and international buyers within an integrated ecosystem.
From the perspective of The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama, strengthening global networks will have a direct impact on improving halal literacy, harmonizing standards, and accelerating market access for Indonesian MSMEs. Moreover, Indonesia possesses significant potential in terms of its Muslim population, production capacity, and continuously evolving halal product innovation.
With projections of hundreds of exhibitors and tens of thousands of international visitors, MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 is expected to become one of the important agendas in the regional halal industry calendar. For Indonesia, this momentum is not only about expanding markets but also about reinforcing its position as a key player in the global halal value chain. Through collaboration, standardization, and sustainable industry diplomacy, The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama remains optimistic that Indonesian halal products will be able to compete and become a preferred choice in the global market. MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2026 thus represents a concrete step toward that vision—building connectivity, expanding networks, and strengthening cross-border halal ecosystems. (YN)
