Don’t Wait Until 2026! LPH LPPOM Urges All Stakeholders to Act Now

Jangan Tunggu 2026! LPH LPPOM Ajak Semua Stakeholder Bergerak Sekarang

Amidst Indonesia’s significant efforts towards the full implementation of Mandatory Halal by October 2026, synergy between state institutions and certification bodies is key to success. With an increasingly proactive and educational service system, LPPOM not only supports regulations but also encourages businesses and consumers to collaborate in building a strong, trusted, and globally competitive halal ecosystem.

During the lively atmosphere of the Indonesia International Halal Festival (IIHF) held at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC) recently, the issue of accelerating halal certification once again came into the spotlight. One critical discussion that emerged was the collaborative strategy between the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) and the Halal Inspection Body (LPH), particularly the Halal Certification Institutions (LPPOM), in preparing for the full implementation of the Halal Mandatory Regulation, which is set to take effect in October 2026.

Mamat Salamet Burhanudin, Deputy for Halal Registration and Certification at BPJPH, emphasized that Indonesia is currently in a crucial phase towards full implementation of the halal obligation. He stated that although the transition period is still ongoing, businesses should not wait until the deadline.

“It should already be mandatory, but it’s still in the transition process, so there’s still room for tolerance. Businesses shouldn’t wait until 2026; if possible, start the halal certification process now,” he said.

Mamat emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in accelerating the achievement of national targets, particularly with LPHs like LPPOM. However, he also acknowledged several challenges hindering this acceleration.

“First, the literacy rate. Second, the BPJPH structure needs to be improved, as it hasn’t yet reached all levels of society, especially businesses ranging from micro to medium and large. This acceleration can be quickly realized if BPJPH establishes good cooperation with various stakeholders, both governmental and non-governmental, such as the LPH,” he explained.

In this context, LPPOM is considered a strategic partner. This institution’s human resource capacity and extensive experience are distinct advantages in supporting field supervision and verification, particularly for high-risk business sectors.

“We desperately need collaboration with LPH, especially for medium, large, or small businesses dealing with high-risk products. And this needs to be verified in the field. To verify this, we must collaborate with LPH, especially LPPOM. We acknowledge that LPPOM has a large human resource base and a long track record,” Mamat added.

Echoing BPJPH, Muti Arintawati, President Director of LPH LPPOM, also emphasized the importance of synergy among all parties to ensure the quality and timeliness of halal services. She reminded businesses not to delay the halal certification process.

“Business owners, don’t wait until the deadline; start now. We at LPPOM are ready to assist businesses that have not yet received halal certification to immediately comply with regulations,” Muti explained. She also conveyed a strong message to consumers, not only to be more proactive in demanding their rights to halal products, but also to be aware of the importance of halal products.

“And to consumers, be smart consumers. Producers will act arbitrarily without the support of consumer pressure. The consumer is king; realize that we are king. We must be able to demand our rights as consumers, so that producers always maintain quality, including halal certification,” she emphasized.

As a concrete manifestation of its commitment, LPPOM continues to develop a proactive and responsive halal certification service system. Through the Halal Partner program, LPPOM offers intensive mentoring to businesses, providing access to services via Customer Care at Call Centre 14056 and WhatsApp at 0811-1148-696.

For those wishing to understand the halal certification process more deeply, LPPOM holds free Halal Certification Introduction Classes (PSH) regularly, every second and fourth week. Complete information can be accessed at: https://halalmui.org/pengenalan-sertifikasi-halal.

Consumers are also encouraged to be more discerning in selecting halal products. Verification can be completed through the website www.halalmui.org or the Halal MUI app, available on the Google Play Store. For further information, including details on halal regulations, please visit the official BPJPH website at https://bpjph.halal.go.id.

In her closing statement, Muti encouraged all stakeholders to work within their respective capacities to create a significant leap towards a robust national halal ecosystem.

“Every stakeholder must do their best. Each has a responsibility, scope, and role. So, do your best. Working together, if everything is going well, it will be a big leap, and God willing, things will get even better,” he concluded.

Through synergy between institutions, an inclusive service system, and continuous education, Indonesia continues to move steadily toward its grand vision of becoming a global hub for the halal industry. (YN)
