  • Creating The Best Halal Innovation, LPPOM Wins IHYA Award
Ciptakan Inovasi Halal Terbaik, LPPOM Raih Anugerah IHYA

LPPOM received the IHYA 2024 award. This award was obtained as LPPOM’s innovation in fastening and encouraging halal inspection.

The Assessment Institute of Foods, Drugs, and Cosmetics (LPPOM) received the Indonesia Halal Industry Award (IHYA) award with the Best Halal Innovation category for CEROL-SS23000 on 27 September 2024 at ICED BSD, Tanggerang. This award was given to 22 IHYA 2024 winners, resulting in 982 participant selections from various institutions/bodies/companies. Also, at this event, LPPOM was nominated as the winner of the Best Social Impact Initiatives for the Syawwal Festival Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

CEROL-SS23000 is the ASEAN’s first online halal certification system (24th May 2012). This makes it easy for clients in the halal certification process, significantly changing the manual (hardcopy) collecting data. Previously, since LPPOM was founded, every halal inspection process was done manually, with the risk of unready documents before going to audit, causing a delayed schedule, the chance of documents being scattered, and the time it takes to search for information.

“CEROL-SS23000 has been through continuous system repair, so for now, it is a lighter and faster system with various new features to make it easier for the user, one of which is the user interface,” Director of Strategy and Operational LPPOM, Sumunar Jati explained.

Their side emphasis that this system encourages the smoothness of halal certification by the COVID-19 pandemic. The bilingual system in CEROL-SS23000 also makes it easier for clients from various countries to access the halal certification in Indonesia. Besides that, the integrated CEROL-SS23000 with the online halal certification system Sihalal, owned by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Body (BPJPH), makes implementing Must-Halal October (WHO) 2024 easier.

With this system, LPPOM can help speed up the processing inspection time by an average of 7 work days (August 2024 data). This can increase the trust of businesspeople in LPPOM. This is proved by reaching 8.614 companies from January until September 16th, 2024. Of course, it is an excellent achievement, especially in realizing the WHO 2024 implementation and Indonesia’s ambition as the center of halal globally.

In addition to CEROL-SS23000, which won the Best Halal Innovation category, LPPOM was also nominated in the Best Social Impact Initiatives category for the Syawwal Festival program. This CSR program, which is conducted every year, focuses on increasing competitiveness and is a plus point for Micro and Small Businesspeople (UMK). It’s a form of LPPOM’s commitment to supporting the government in improving the total halal product production in Indonesia.

This year, with the theme “Improving the Local Community Economy through Halal Tourism,” LPPOM is facilitating free regular halal certification for 744 UMK. About 85 UMK were facilitated independently by LPPOM in 5 Super Priority Destinations (DSP), about 41 UMK at Labuan Bajo, 10 UMK at Toba Lake, 8 UMK around Borobudur, 6 UMK at Likupang, and 20 UMK around Mandalika. The other 40 were spread in various provinces in Indonesia.

“In the same series, LPPOM also conducted halal education through webinars and seminars for 477 participants. “LPPOM is also the initiator of the formation of the Halal, Safe and Healthy Culinary Zone (KHAS) in the culinary area of Kampung Ujung, Labuan Bajo, which was inaugurated by the National Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KNEKS),” Sumunar Jati explained.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita appreciates halal industry stakeholders who support and actively participate in accelerating the growth and empowerment of the national halal industry. IHYA is becoming a brand for halal industry sector progress in Indonesia and also represents Indonesia’s vision as the world’s leading halal producer center.

“IHYA is also expected to be a high credibility award and become the best media for curating the halal industry in Indonesia. We hope that through IHYA, the Ministry of Industry can participate in strengthening the general Sharia economic ecosystem and especially the halal industry,” he explained.

“Congratulations to the IHYA 2024 award recipients, and I hope the recipient award doesn’t stop innovating to create new ideas that can contribute to the national halal industry progress and enlivening campaign and halal industry promotion in Indonesia or even globally,” he concluded.

This year, Menperin awarded 22 IHYA 2024 winners, who were selected from 982 participants from various institutions/bodies/companies. The winners are from eight categories: Best Halal Innovation, Best Social Impact Initiatives, Best Halal Supply Chain, Best Small Industry, Best Halal Industrial Estate, Best Export Expansion, Best Halal Program Support, and Best Halal Financial Support.
