The Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) of Pangkalpinang City has again shown its commitment to supporting Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) by handing over 21 BPJPH halal certificates for free. The symbolic handover of halal certificates was carried out on December 17, 2024 at the Joint Secretariat of the MUI of Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung.
The handover of the certificates was carried out directly by the Acting Chairperson of the Pangkalpinang PKK Team, Yuniar Putia Rahma, accompanied by the Chairperson of the Pangkalpinang City MUI, H. Syamsuni Saleh, the ranks of LPPOM Babel, Baznas Pangkalpinang City, and various other parties.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulama of Pangkalpinang City, H. Syamsuni Saleh, explained that this free halal certification program has been running consistently for the past four years. Throughout 2024, as many as 21 fostered SMEs have received BPJPH halal certificates as part of efforts to maintain the halalness of food and beverage products consumed by the public, especially Muslims.
“This effort is important to ensure that SME products meet halal standards. In addition, we are also working with the Pangkalpinang City Government and various stakeholders to build halal culinary villages in several areas such as Jl. Gedung Nasional and Jl. Balai Pangkalpinang. Currently, around 60 percent of products sold by SMEs in the area have been halal certified,” said H. Syamsuni Saleh.
The ranks of LPPOM Babel, Faridayani, S.T., appreciated the collaboration between the Pangkalpinang City MUI and LPPOM Babel which has been going well so far. “We really appreciate the Pangkalpinang City MUI which for the past four years has consistently facilitated free halal certification for SMEs. Hopefully, this program will continue as a form of support for the Halal Product Assurance Act, as well as supporting the Government’s target to ensure that all products are halal certified by 2026,” said Faridayani.
The Acting Chair of the Pangkalpinang PKK Team, Yuniar Putia Rahma, who serves as Head of the Empowerment of UKM Diskop and UKM Babel, also expressed her appreciation for this activity. “I really appreciate The Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) of Pangkalpinang City which has routinely, for the past four years, helped UKM actors in obtaining free halal certification. This program is helpful in the government’s efforts to achieve mandatory halal certification by 2026,” said Yuniar, the wife of the Acting Mayor of Pangkalpinang, Budi Utama.
She emphasized the importance of utilizing this program and asked that it be widely socialized to other UKM actors who do not yet have halal certification. According to her, this opportunity must be maximized to increase the competitiveness of local products.
“SMEs that have received halal certification are expected to be more innovative, dare to compete, and be able to convince consumers that halal products are the key to a healthy life. Halal is clean, clean is healthy,” said Yuniar.
The Pangkalpinang PKK Team also plans to expand collaboration with The Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) of Pangkalpinang City and various other parties in family empowerment programs, halal certification, and youth development.
“Hopefully this activity will bring blessings and can reach more SMEs. Thus, the government’s target to make Indonesia a World Class Halal Product Producer by 2026 can be achieved,” he concluded.
