  • 6 Instant Steps to Register for Official BPJPH Halal Certification Without the Hassle

Want Your Product to Pass the Retail & Export Markets? Registering for Halal Certification Is the Key!

Registering for Halal Certification is not just an obligation, but a strategic move to enhance your business’s competitiveness. In an era of increasingly halal-conscious consumers, obtaining official certification from BPJPH will have a significant impact on your brand and sales.

What is Halal Certification?

Halal certification is written recognition from the competent authority (BPJPH) stating that a product and production process comply with Islamic law. The official halal label demonstrates integrity, trustworthiness, and a guarantee of safety for both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers.

Why is Registering for Halal Certification So Important Now?

Starting October 17, 2024, all food, beverage, and raw material products must have official halal certification. This is an implementation of Act No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance. Violations of this obligation can be subject to administrative and criminal sanctions.

Please refer to the complete regulations on the official BPJPH website.

7 Benefits of Registering for Halal Certification for Your Business

1. Consumer Trust

A halal certificate increases customer confidence in the safety and quality of your products.

2. Expanded Market

Products can more easily enter national retail, e-commerce, and export markets.

3. Guaranteed Legality

Avoid the risk of fines of up to IDR 2 billion or product withdrawals.

4. Increased Competitiveness

Halal-certified products are superior to those of competitors who do not hold this certification.

5. Cooperation Requirements

Many distributors, state-owned enterprises, and government tenders require halal certification.

6. More Professional Branding

An official halal label strengthens your business’s image in the public eye.

7. Long-Term Protection

The certificate is valid for four years and can be automatically renewed if the SJPH is appropriately maintained.

Who is Required to Register for Halal Certification?

Suppose you operate in one of the following business sectors. In that case, you are required to register your products for official Halal Certification from BPJPH before the October 17, 2024, deadline — as mandated by Act Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Assurance.

List of sectors that are required to have Halal Certification:

  • Food and Beverage MSMEs (both home-based and industrial-scale production)
  • Catering Services, Restaurants, Warteg, and F&B Franchises
  • Cosmetics, Skincare, and Body Care Products
  • Traditional Medicines, Herbal Supplements, and Herbal Medicines
  • Animal Products and Their Derivatives, including processed meat, gelatin, and dairy
  • Without Halal certification:
  • Your products cannot enter the modern retail market (Indomaret, Alfamart, etc.)
  • Prohibited from distribution on major marketplaces and e-commerce sites
  • Risk of government sanctions
  • Loss of trust from Muslim consumers, both domestically and internationally

Don’t wait until the deadline approaches!

The registration and audit process takes time. The sooner you register, the sooner your product will be legally secure and ready to enter the national and export halal markets.

Do you want your product to be withdrawn from the market? Don’t let that happen!
