LPPOM distributed 100 tanks of clean water to disaster-affected areas in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra. This assistance is intended to support the community’s clean water needs during the emergency response period.
The natural disasters that struck Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra have had a significant impact on people’s lives. Damage to infrastructure, including water facilities, has left residents in several areas unable to meet basic daily needs. This situation is felt by various levels of society, from families who have lost their homes to children who must adapt to the emergency situation.
In post-disaster situations, access to clean water is a primary need. Damage to the water distribution network makes access to clean water difficult, even though water is essential for consumption, sanitation, and maintaining public health. Therefore, support from various parties is crucial to early recovery efforts in affected areas.
As part of its social responsibility, LPPOM participated in humanitarian efforts for communities affected by natural disasters in Sumatra. The assistance provided focused on meeting the need for clean water, one of the most pressing needs during the emergency response period.
This assistance was delivered through the distribution of 100 clean water tanks with capacities of 5,000 to 6,000 liters each. These water tanks were distributed to various affected areas in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra, which had experienced limited access to clean water for some time.
The President Director of LPPOM, Muti Arintawati, stated that this assistance was the result of the collective concern of all LPPOM employees for the conditions of the disaster-affected communities.
“These 100 water tanks are not just numbers. This assistance stems from the empathy and concern of all LPPOM employees. We hope that every drop of water distributed can help alleviate the needs of the community and provide support during the recovery period,” said Muti Arintawati.
She added that social care is a value that LPPOM consistently upholds in carrying out its role. “For us, social care is not a fleeting response, but rather a value that lives in the daily lives of LPPOM personnel. When our brothers and sisters are struck by disaster, it is a shared responsibility to be present, share, and support one another,” he said.
In addition to being distributed to the general public, aid was also provided to the extended family of LPPOM personnel who were also affected by the disaster. This step reflects a spirit of togetherness and internal solidarity while ensuring comprehensive support.
For LPPOM, the commitment to maintaining quality and halal values goes hand in hand with concern for humanitarian issues. Participating in this social action is part of LPPOM’s efforts to contribute significantly, especially when communities are vulnerable due to disasters. By distributing 100 tanks of clean water, LPPOM hopes to help meet the basic needs of affected communities and support post-disaster recovery efforts. It is hoped that this assistance will be utilized sustainably and have a positive impact on the people of Sumatra as they strive to recover and resume their daily lives. (YN)
