A total of 50 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Bali officially received Halal Certificates at the “Business Meeting and Exhibition of Ancestral Heritage, Today’s Creations” event held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Trans Studio Mall Denpasar, Bali. The halal certificate acquisition was facilitated by the Manpower and Industry Agency (Disnakerprin) and took place from April to September 2024. The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics (LPPOM) of Bali Province, in this case, was chosen as a partner to carry out the product halal inspection process.
The event was an important moment for recipient SMEs, considering that halal certificates provide significant added value to expand market access, especially for Muslim consumers at home and abroad. The certificates were handed over directly by the Regent of Jembrana, I Nengah Tamba, S.H., and the Director of Miscellaneous Industry and SMEs for Chemicals, Clothing and Crafts of the Ministry of Industry, Alexandra Arri Cahyani, S.H., MPP.
On this occasion, the Regent of Jembrana I Nengah Tamba, S.H., expressed his hope that the facilitation of halal certificates could have a positive impact on the local economy, especially for SMEs. “This certification not only supports business development, but also encourages SMEs to continue to innovate and maintain the quality of their products. That way, our local products can compete in a wider market,” he said.
Meanwhile, as the organizer of the event, Acting Head of the Manpower and Industry Office of Jembrana Regency, Ni Nengah Wartini, S.Si., M.Si., emphasized the commitment of the Jembrana Regency Government in encouraging the growth of Sharia-based SMEs by facilitating the acquisition of halal certificates. “This facilitation aims to increase the competitiveness and quality of SME products, as well as expand access to domestic and international markets,” he said.
Ni Nengah Wartini also added that cooperation with the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) and the Halal Inspection Body (LPH) of the Bali Province LPPOM plays a very important role in helping SMEs achieve halal standards that are recognized nationally and internationally. “Through the technical assistance, training, and mentoring provided, we hope that SMEs in Jembrana can improve the quality of their products and gain wider recognition,” he added.
The Director of LPPOM Bali, Apt. Aji Pamungkas, S.Si., also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the local Government in facilitating halal certification. According to him, this certification is not just a document but also a key to increasing the competitiveness of local products to expand the market, especially for Muslim consumers who are increasingly selective in choosing products. “With this certificate, Balinese SME products will be more trusted and competitive,” he said.
This event is an important momentum for SMEs to gain wider recognition and compete in the global market. The local Government, LPPOM, and other stakeholders are determined to continue collaborating in supporting the growth of the SME sector through various strategic programs.
With the submission of 50 halal certificates, it is hoped that more business actors in Bali will be encouraged to meet halal standards while opening up wider market opportunities for local products at the national and international levels. This event also received appreciation from the participants who attended, including business actors, policymakers, and private parties involved in SME development.
