Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (JPH Law) began to be implemented. This has resulted in many changes in halal regulations, so that all relevant parties need to make various adjustment efforts, including the Food, Medicines, and Cosmetics Assessment Institute of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI) as a Halal Inspection Agency (LPH).

Responding to this, LPPOM MUI held a National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) on June 15-16, 2022 in Bangka Belitung Province. This event is one of a series of Indonesian Halal Congress (KHI) which took place on June 14-18. In the event with the theme "Strengthening Joint Commitment Towards LPPOM MUI Berjaya", all DIRECTORS of LPPOM MUI from 34 provinces gathered to consolidate in facing very dynamic challenges.

"This national coordination meeting is the first time it has been held after the pandemic. We hope that this event can produce a lot of productive things for the community. Of course, we invite all those present here to arrange steps and make a program in the future so that LPPOM MUI can compete professionally in the current halal certification match," said The President Director of LPPOM MUI, Ir. Muti Arintawati, M.Si.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the MUI for Fatwa, Dr. H.M. Asrorun Ni'am Sholeh, M.A. emphasized that LPPOM MUI must be able to quickly adapt to the dynamics of change. Therefore, various innovations need to be continuously born, including when the government through the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) and other LPH are present in halal certification matters.

On the same occasion, the Regent of Bangka Regency, Mulkan, S.H., M.H. welcomed the implementation of this event. "We must have a common commitment in providing the first guarantee to the people of Indonesia, especially the halalness of the product. This is so that people no longer need to be afraid, worried, and hesitant to consume products in Indonesia," he added.

This National Coordination Meeting is a new step for LPPOM MUI to continue to produce various innovations related to the halal certification process. That way, companies can carry out halal certification quickly and accurately. Meanwhile, from the consumer side, they can get more alternative halal products for consumption. (RR/YN)
