LPPOM MUI must be able to adapt to various provisions that are currently in force, as well as collaborate with various parties, so that halal certification services, especially for MSME actors, can be carried out properly and become one of the choices in developing the competitiveness of national products. This was conveyed by the Chairman of the MUI for Economics, Dr. Ir. Lukmanul Hakim, M.Si in the closing ceremony of the Syawal 1443 H Festival which was held virtually on June 9, 2022.
"Halal certification has been recognized as having an important role in supporting the people's economy. Therefore, halal certification must be a competitive advantage for MSE players, so that their products become an option for consumers. Moreover, the world has entered the era of free trade, so halal certification can be a strength of competitiveness," explained Lukmanul Hakim
To support the development of MSMEs, the characteristics of business actors in the sector must be considered. Halal certification services must be adapted to the characteristics of MSMEs, where halal certification services must be able to be done quickly, cheaply and easily. This is a must that is done, while still paying attention to halal rules in accordance with Islamic law.
Another thing is how halal standards can be carried out transparently, with clear standards. This is important so that halal certification does not become a highlight for the world through the World Trade Organization (WTO).
MUI appreciates what has been done by LPPOM MUI and other stakeholders in the halal sector who have participated in the development of MSMEs. "We hope that the participation of all parties can accelerate our hope that Indonesia can become a center of halal production in the world," said Lukmanul Hakim. (***)
