Bogor – In January 2020, The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesia Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) announced the addition of Overseas Halal Certification Body (LSHLN) recognized by the Indonesia Council of Ulama (MUI) for the flavor category to 22 institutions.
This LSHLN recognition becomes very important for the halal certification process. Halal certificates from recognized institutions can be used as document requirements for flavor companies that use their products in the production process. This is to meet the halal requirements that have been determined by LPPOM MUI.
One of the requirements for an LSHLN is recognized by the MUI is that it follows the training required by the MUI, one of which was held on 8-11 July 2019 in Bogor, Indonesia.
The training entitled: “International Training for Flavor and Fragrances of Halal Auditors of Halal Certifying Bodies (HCB),” was organized by the Indonesian Halal Training & Education Center (IHATEC) in collaboration with LPPOM MUI and MUI.
The following are some LSHLN that have increased the scope of the flavor category, including:
1. Halal Food Authority (HFA)
2. Halal Certification of Europe (HCE)
3. Halal Institute of Spain
4. Australian Halal Authority and Advisers (AHAA)
5. Muslim Professional Japan Association (MPJA)
6. Taiwan Halal Integrity Development Association (THIDA)
In addition, updates were also made to the address of the Halal Institute of Spain. What was originally Fluente Arriba, s/n14720 Almodovar deRio Cordoba became c / Claudio Marcelo No. 17 Planta 1 – 14002 Cordoba.
Now, there are 45 halal certification bodies that are recognized by MUI. The institutions came from 26 countries consisting of 37 institutions in the slaughtering category, 40 institutions in the raw material category, and 22 institutions in the flavor category. (YN)
