A meeting between LPPOM and the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Santoso, marked an initial introduction as well as opened opportunities for cooperation in supporting the strengthening of the halal ecosystem and the development of Indonesian halal products.

The Halal Inspection Body (LPH) LPPOM conducted a visit to the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Santoso, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta. This meeting served as an occasion for establishing rapport and introducing LPPOM, while also opening initial discussions regarding potential collaboration opportunities.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged information regarding their respective roles, including halal certification and its relation to trade activities. The discussion also touched on the condition of business actors, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises MSMEs, in accessing halal certification.

President Director of LPPOM, Muti Arintawati, stated that this visit was an initial step to build communication with the Ministry of Trade.

“This meeting is primarily for introduction and to open a space for discussion. Moving forward, we see opportunities for cooperation,” she said.

In addition, it was discussed that halal certification can serve as added value for products, as it helps increase consumer trust. Ease of access to certification, especially for MSMEs, was also a key point of attention in the discussion.

On the same occasion, LPPOM also presented the Syawal Festival program, which has been held regularly since 2021. This year, the festival carries the theme of halal raw material stores and will reach its peak event on April 30, 2026. LPPOM also invited the Ministry of Trade to attend and support the event.

This meeting remains at an initial stage and has not yet discussed detailed cooperation. However, both parties opened the possibility to continue discussions at a more technical level in the future.

Through this meeting, it is hoped that communication between LPPOM and the Ministry of Trade will continue to be well established, thereby opening opportunities for future collaboration in supporting the development of halal products in Indonesia. (YN)
