BPJPH has received high praise for its contributions. With over three decades of experience, a broad network spanning remote areas and abroad, and competent auditors, LPPOM is considered a key driver in accelerating BPJPH halal certification in Indonesia, ensuring a smooth processing.
Accelerating the national halal ecosystem cannot be achieved by a single institution alone. Collaboration between stakeholders is key. A seminar titled “Supporting BPJPH’s Halal Mandatory, LPPOM Offers Excellent Services” as part of the Indonesia International Halal Festival (IIHF) held at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC) recently revealed the crucial role of LPPOM’s Halal Inspection Body (LPH) in expanding the scope of halal certification in Indonesia and globally.
Mamat Salamet Burhanudin, Deputy for Halal Registration and Certification at the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), acknowledged that LPPOM is a strategic partner in ensuring the rapid and easy success of the national halal certification program.
“BPJPH cannot act alone in accelerating the halal certification process. We acknowledge that LPPOM has made a tremendous contribution. BPJPH appreciates LPPOM’s efforts, as its efforts have helped accelerate halal certification from abroad to remote areas,” said Mamat.
He added that LPPOM’s strength lies not only in its extensive experience but also in its reliable network and human resources. “LPPOM has a powerful and extensive network. Likewise, its human resources can conduct inspections abroad, presenting a significant opportunity. This is worthy of emulation by other LPHs, given the results and achievements LPPOM has achieved,” he added.
This statement was confirmed by Muti Arintawati, President Director of LPH LPPOM. In her presentation, she stated that LPPOM has been on a long journey assisting businesses through the halal certification process since before the government established the Halal Product Assurance (JPH) regulation.
“Yes, we have been working in the halal certification field for 36 years. We are currently part of the halal certification system led by BPJPH. As an experienced institution, we have an extensive network: branch offices in 34 provinces and representatives abroad,” Muti said.
With the support of competent and certified halal auditors, Muti stated that LPPOM can make a significant contribution to the number of national halal certifications, particularly for medium- and large-sized businesses.
“We primarily inspect medium and large businesses through regular channels. These medium and large companies have a significant impact, as many of their products are used as raw materials by micro and small businesses. In turn, it helps expedite halal certification for MSEs, including through the self-declaration scheme,” she explained.
To encourage this, LPPOM actively provides access and education to businesses. Every second and fourth week, LPPOM holds free Halal Certification Introduction Classes (PSH) on a regular basis. This program serves as a practical entry point for businesses to understand the comprehensive halal certification process, enabling quick and easy processing. Complete information about the PSH program can be accessed through their official website: https://halalmui.org/pengenalan-sertifikasi-halal.
Additionally, LPPOM offers a Call Centre at 14056 and a WhatsApp service at 0811-1148-696 to address questions and provide assistance to businesses throughout the certification process. Consumer awareness is also a key concern. Amidst the flood of products on the market, Muslim consumers are encouraged to actively check the halal status of their products through the official website www.halalmui.org or the Halal MUI app, easily downloadable from the Play Store.
For those seeking more information, the official BPJPH website at https://bpjph.halal.go.id is also a trusted source for halal product data, regulations, and a map of Halal Inspection Body (LPH) throughout Indonesia.
In the spirit of collaboration and synergy, the two speakers at the IIHF seminar emphasised that the national halal ecosystem requires concrete contributions from various parties. LPH LPPOM, with its experience, reach, and capacity, has become a key driving force in the significant journey to make Indonesia a global hub for the halal industry. (YN)
