The LPPOM MUI Halal Award 2023 activities are excellent at optimizing the potential of the halal industry in the country, not only as the primary target market but also as the center for world halal producers. This was conveyed by the Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, at the 2023 LPPOM MUI Halal Award, which took place on September 4, 2023, at the IPB International Convention Center, Bogor.
“In 2022, The State of Global Islamic Economy Report reveals that in terms of sharia economic indicators, Indonesia will be ranked 4th globally. As for the halal food category, Indonesia ranks second after Malaysia. The trend for consumption of halal industrial products is also predicted to increase by 6.3% or reach US$1.38 trillion in 2024,” said Teten.
According to data from the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), as many as 30 million business products require halal certification. But until now, only around 725,000 products have been certified halal, and 405,000 of them come from the MSME sector. Following the president’s direction, the government is committed to speeding up the halal certification process for business actors, especially MSMEs, by reducing the processing time.
“Apart from that, massive socialization and assistance must also be carried out, including the SEHATI (Free Halal Certification) program with a self-declaration mechanism. I congratulate the award recipients from the 2023 LPPOM MUI Halal Award. I hope they can continue to innovate and inspire other business actors,” said Teten. (*)
