The memorable experience felt by PT. Enseval Putra Megatrading, Tbk. who has succeeded in obtaining halal certification through the Halal Inspection Body (LPH) of the Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI). The Logistics Manager, Danuri Utami, conveyed in a webinar titled “Halal Logistics: Fulfilling Consumer Expectations and Compliance with Regulations” held by LPPOM MUI on August 3, 2023.
“PT. Enseval Putra Megatrading, Tbk. is one of the logistics services in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. There are at least four interrelated aspects to determine the success of halal certification for logistics service companies,” explained Danuri.
First, Management Support. The management of the company must support the process of halal certification. This is done by providing training facilities for the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH), appointing a halal supervisor, and providing adequate infrastructure for the requirements of the SJPH.
Second commitment. After supporting facilities and infrastructure, the company needs to form a team along with the division of tasks. This team is the lead in the halal certification process. All team members must commit to implementing SJPH in the company.
Third, benchmarking. Companies must benchmark similar industries to find the right pilot for implementing SJPH. Companies can consult regarding all preparations for halal certification to the Halal Partner of LPPOM MUI so that every step is carried out correctly and efficiently.
Fourth, is implementation. Companies must create a pilot project scheme to determine the halal certification plan for all lines. After it is successful, strive for halal certification for all parts that have not been certified.
Even though there are many stages and processes that companies need to go through, by fulfilling these four aspects, the halal certification process looks complicated, it will be completed properly.
